A creative and resourceful marketer, Shannon is an experienced media buyer and marketing planner in the lesbian and gay community. As chief executive officer and founding partner of Sweet, a new lesbian travel company, Shannon manages one of the premiere lesbian brands. Managing the marketing and branding for Sweet, Care2, PlanetOut / Gay.com and Olivia, Shannon built a fantastic network of lesbian event planners, party promoters, magazines, web sites, non-profits, businesses and artists.
Crafting a marketing campaign that specifically addresses the needs of the lesbian community is Shannon’s forte. With the extremely educated and brand loyal lesbian community, the message matters. Shannon can help you stay on brand message while speaking directly to lesbian consumers.
With Shannon, ROI is king. She’s a master at creating marketing programs that incorporate search engine marketing, search engine optimization, social networking and other inexpensive, effective means of reaching scores of gay women.
Shannon has consulted with Anheuser-Busch, USMP, the Game Show Network, Suzanne Westenhoefer, and green builders CMW Architects, McCutcheon Construction and Live Oak Estates.
A bookworm at heart, Shannon earned her master’s degree in literature at California State University, Fresno (go Bulldogs), where she had the extreme pleasure of working with renowned lesbian historian and author Lillian Faderman on “Chloe Plus Olivia,” an anthology of lesbian literature.
Shannon recently completed her fifth AIDS Lifecycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys sleeping, running, playing basketball, hiking and working to overcome her fear of swimming to compete in triathlons. She’s an enthusiastic supporter of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Equality California, the Galapagos Conservancy, the Humane Society, Sports for Kids, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, the San Francisco LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
